defining the khizr's position in quran and pictured texts of shahnameh and eskandarnameh

in some verses (ayat) of the holy quran, we come to a wise learned man, who had the responsibility of musses> teaching for a short period, and taught him knowledge and morality. the holy quran has not referred to the name of this character, but some interpreters and translators of quran believe him to be the khizr. two of great persian poets, ferdosi and nezami, have entered khizr into the realm of tran>s literature and consequently painting, and referred to him under the title of the story of alexander and water of life (the essence for immortality). tn this study, given the fact that quran has not mentioned khizr>s name at all, we have tried to investigate the similarities and differences between the character ascribed to khizr in quran and his character descried in shahnameh and eskandarnameh texts. with the help of this characterology and comparing it with some pictures of khizr, painted according to the texts of shahnameh and eskandarnameh, we have identified and introduced the nature of the pictures attributed to khizr in the paintings influenced by shahnameh and eskandarnameh texts. one of the findings of this research, which is done by descriptive analytical method, was to approve the indirect relation between quranic khizr and the khizr in literature, introduced to persian literature by works of ferdosi and nezami who were in turn influenced by quran themselves. the sacred characteristics attributed to khizr in quran and some other religious texts have made the painters to use golden color and light halo round his head in order to invoke visual sanctity.
